`` the silver lining;;
In the twenty five years since the epic battle between Harry Potter and the Dark Lord things have changed, some say for the worse, many disagree. Kingsley Shacklebolt was elected Minister of Magic after his temporary stay and he has done well to solve problems that have arisen. Track down the death eaters, find new guards for Azkaban, banish the dark creatures called Dementors, many think that he is the greatest minister the magical world has seen, using his experience as an auror to gain premise but not overpower his people. The one thing he could not stop happening was the changes that were brought on at Hogwarts.•••
Hogwarts has had the same headmaster for seven years, his name is Septimus Waldorf William Tinabours and, the students think, he is an absolute nutter. Headmaster Tinabours started a new system, a very odd system indeed, where half of the student body will have familiars. All of the students thought this would be very interesting, though they wondered how the masters would be decided and what their familiars would be. It was decided that sixth year students would go through the ceremony and be given their familiars. And so all of the students whispered and wondered and presumed. All of the students watched the sixth years as they entered the great hall that night, the first to gain familiars. All watched with eager and jealous eyes.•••
But then something unexpected happened, none of the students walked out with a familiar. All of the others looked on after the hour they had waited and they saw no black cats, no puffskeins, no unicorns, no dragons, no hippogryffs, nothing they had expected was there. So they questioned the sixth years, where were their familiars? And one girl stood out from the rest, tears lined her cheeks as she told in a hysterical voice, I will not be his familiar! And she stormed up the stares without a backward glance. And the boy that she had stood next to stepped forward to explain, as promised only half of the student body would have a familiar. The rest, why they would be a familiar.•••
The students and teachers still have not fathomed how a familiar is chosen. Sure they understand the logistics of it, the sixth years walk into the great hall, they stand in two lines, one with boys and one with girls, and they are paired off, though they are not always coed pairs. It is not seen much but a few masters will choose a familiar that is of the same sex, not to say that they have much of a choice. The bond pulls them together, moving them to one anthers side and imprinting each with the same mark on their bodies, no two marks are alike for another pairing. Some speculate and say it is all random and some say that they are soul mates, but for whatever reason, they shall remain together forever.
