The tiny 4'4" girl was seeking refuge in the astronomy tower once again, but this time it was early morning. THe sun was just rising and she squeaked yawning gently as she stretched a moment before curling up again. Her eyes floated out to the sunrise and she smiled gently as the breeze ruffled through her hair.
Her eyes fell upon the few students who were going out of the castle already to try and see some of the morning dew. She giggled gently as first years started playing games outside and she shook her head.
Those tiny noises were the only sign she had a voice somewhere within her, but she never used it. She was mute to everyone and had been that way for about 11 years. She didn't plan on changing that anytime soon.

Brian walked out to the Astronomy Tower and saw someone. She was small so he couldn't exactly tell what year she was in. He walked over to her and tapped her on the shoulder. "Excuse me. But may I help you?"he asked the girl. Brian didn't know the students by heart so he didn't know this one...yet.

The small girl nearly flew out of her skin and gasped when he taped her on the shoulder. If there was ever a time she almost had a heart attack, that would have been it. She held a hand to her chest and stared at him bewildered before she realised she had better answer the professor.
She quickly moved her hand to her mouth to hopefully help him understand that she didn't talk before she pulled out her specialized parchment and her quill. She began writting quickly and gulped.
No professor, I'm sorry I'm up here out of hours, I meant nothing by it. I'll be moving out of your way now. The tiny girl stood up and showed him the parchment chewing her lip nervously as she hoped to merlin that he didn't give her detention over this.

Brian looked at her as she moved her hand to cover her mouth. He thought about it until he watched her take some parchment. He read what she wrote and shook his head. "No. Its fine. I was just wondering what you were doing up here. I mean....someone was killed here and if no one was hear then you could fall and die or hurt and I'd probably get blamed for it. So be careful is all and let me know next time."Brian said to the girl. She must be mute is what he had been thinking when she touched her mouth.

She nodded slowly and waved her hand over the parchment causing the ink to disappear before she began writing again. As she wrote a small giggle escaped her lips and she shook her head before handing the parchment to him again.
True, you could get blamed, but its not like anyone would hear me scream anyways! and most people say I'm so small I could blow away with the wind so then you haven't a problem at all! She smiled at the professor and shook her head. Perhaps her stupid sense of humor was what kept her from having many friends.

Brian looked at her and watched as she wrote something else. Brian tilted his head and took the parchment from her and read it. He chuckled lightly not meaning to. He looked up at her. "You may be small but that doesn't mean you'll blow away. I can promise you that."he said to her and handed the parchment back to her.

She wrinkled her nose and giggled waving her hand over the parchment again. She looked up at the professor and shook her head. She knew he was the Astronomy Professor and the Head of her House, but he obviously didn't know her.
I'm Lunar-Serenity Pyrie, by the way. 7th year Ravenclaw. She wrote this proudly before showing it to him and extending her tiny hand to the much taller man.

Brian looked at her and waited. He breathed deeply and took the paper and his eyes grew reading it. "Ohmigod. I feel stupid. I'm sorry I didn't know you were in my house. Well...the house I'm in charge of."he said looking at her. "Well I guess you know this but in case you don't know my name its Professor Odo."he told her smiling as he handed the parchment back to her.

She giggled and laughed shaking her head as she seemed to have found his reaction quite amusing. She waved her hand over the paper quickly and continued giggiling as she wrote.
I figured that, and its quite alright. Not many people even know I exist! I'm all down here and you're all up there, plus I never speak of it, so its quite alright. She handed the parchment to him and winked smiling still amused by his bother with it. She really didn't think anything of the fact he didn't know who she was. She was even in his class!

Brian looked at the parchment. He found something she wrote ironic. "Well....ummm...i barely notice those students that are even taller then myself. I sometimes don't pay attention to students. I busy thinking about stars and planets."he said to her smirking then decided to chuckle again. "That's ironic. You say you never speak of it yet you can't speak. Ironic ain't it?"Brian said handing the parchment back to her.

She giggled and wrinkled her nose as she realised the irony. She took the parchment back and waved her hand over it before writing again.
You're right! And I know what you mean about constantly thinking of stars and planets... I'm the same way. I never seem to pull my head out of the clouds. She handed it back to him and smiled shaking her head. He was definatly one of the more amusing professors she had.

Brian looked at her and smiled. He took her paper and read it. He smirked reading it. "Its not a bad thing to have your head in the clouds. Just not during something important."Brian said handing it back to her. He loved making students laughed and like him. He got more students being like that.

She smiled shyly at him for a moment and shrugged looking away before she took the parchment back from him and wrote some more. Sometimes that was the downfall to no one knowing sign language.. you had to constantly write.
My parents always scolded me for it. I was always the dreamer.. suprising I ended up as a Ravenclaw! She handed it back to him and ran a hand over her orange hair softly. She was growing slightly nervous now. She always got nervous the longer she spoke to eople because it lead to more oppertunities to mess up and say the wrong things.

Brian looked at her and took the parchment and read it. He tilted his head and smirked. "Yes well...surprisingly I'm the dreamer in my family but..."he said looking down at his hands. His little sister Marissa was deaf and mute so his parents had taught both him and his older brother sign language so they could talk to her. He sighed thinking. "If you don't like writing to me then you can do sign language. My little sister is deaf and mute so me and my older brother plus our parents have had to learn it just to talk to her. So feel free to talk to me with it." He sighed to her. He figured she knew sign language.

Lity's eyes widened and she squeaked in delight when he started using sign language. In her excitement she threw her arms around the professor and hugged him tightly (well as tight as she could for someone of her size) and bounced on her toes. She took the parchment back and put it in her robe grinning bigger then she ever had before. It was true, she was a simple and innocent girl- it didn't take much to make her happy. "Really!? That's great! Well its not great I mean I- uh nevermind! Oh merlins! This is so exciting! My own parents don't even know sign language, they pretty much just ignore me now. This is fantastic! Fantastic!" she was so excited she could practically pop. The tiny girl was very good with sign language and always expressive, so most people, even if they didn't know the language, could often understand what she meant.
